Synchiropus Splendidus or, commonly, Mandarinfish or Mandarin dragonet is a small, brightly-colored member of the dragonet family, which is popular in the saltwater aquarium trade. I took these photographs on a science expedition up the San Lorenzo River with my daughter Willow. She was testing the water quality at various spots up and down the river. I took the time to take some photographs These are the results after editing with the Gimp.

The La Bahia still stands on Beach Street across from Main Beach by the Boardwalk in Santa Cruz but its days are numbered. Not a year goes by here without some proposal to raze it and build something modern.
